We made it!!
I have been very impressed with the wonderful behavior of the kindergarten class in the way they have treated each other and with the way they have been so positive and engaged. It's been a super first week capped off with our whole school opening day ceremony this morning. Thank you to Emmett and Addyson for speaking on behalf of the class.
This week students learned how to sign letters a-i of the alphabet (hopefully they shared this with you) and also memorized our poem, "I Love You Little". Weekly poems are practiced throughout the week, illustrated and added to student's poetry binder. If you haven't already sent in a binder for your child (small 1") please send one in next week. Students will bring these home every Thursday to read on Friday for Independent Study.
We also did self portraits with oil pastels and watercolors and our focus book was Chicka Chica Boom Boom. Students retold the story and put the events in order. These are in their backpacks so please have them retell the story to you.
We have been graphing our answers to a daily question, counting and exploring our Math manipulatives.
Next week we begin on Tuesday with full days all week. Dismissal time is 2:45. Please make sure to send your child with a water bottle every day.
Thank you and I hope you enjoy the long weekend!
PS Under the "more" tab of this website is a video that shows how we sign the alphabet and also an article explaining why we do this.
Reminders:
September 5: pizza Thursday begins
September 6: Enrichment classes begin
September 11th: Back to School night 5:30 (adults only please)
Independent Study for Friday, August 30th
