Our first full week of school!
This week we made applesauce and discussed the recipe and directions. Students recorded how it looked when we added all the ingredients and then how it changed after it was cooked. We used our 5 senses to experience the finished product and for the most part it was pronounced delicious.
We did our first quadrat observation at the base of Shirley Canyon. We will do this every month in the same spot to examine how a very small area can change over the course of time. Students are doing a great job recording their observations in their Science notebooks.
We read, The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and discussed how we have also felt upset when we felt like we couldn't do something. Students have been practicing retelling the story and noticing how a character can change from the beginning of a book to the end.
In Math students are sorting items based on different qualities and also categorizing like items according to specific criteria. We are counting, using tally marks and playing Math games.
